Music Brad Likes, Part the Second: Ween!

There’s a new Ween CD out, SHINOLA VOL. 1, and even though it’s mostly outtakes and factory seconds, it’s cool as all get out, and I highly recommend you seek it out. For those of you who don’t know about Ween, well — the core band is Dean and Gene Ween, and they’ve been around since the 1990’s. What kind of music do they play? Well, everything, basically. Do you like progressive rock? They do that. How about speed metal? No problem. Funk? Try “Monique The Freak”, which is more Prince than Prince has been lately! Country and western? How about “Help Me Scrape The Mucus Off My Brain” from “12 Golden Country Greats”? Ozzy-like sword and sorcery metal vamps? They’re great at that! Sea Shantys? No problem. Jimmy Buffett style beach music? Have you heard “Bananas and Blow”? Pretty acoustic love songs a la Bread and America? They truly excel!
Really, these guys play anything and everything, and always with a sense of humour and a genuine respect for whatever genre they’re mining. They are funny, cool, and so popular with their fans, they barely release “real” records anymore, they just use their website.
So please, by everything that is holy — dig the Boognish. It is very brown!

You didn’t mention the rejected Pizza Hut jingle, the greatest commercial jingle ever written.
Version 1:
“Where’d the cheese go?/I don’t know!”
Version 2:
“Where’d the *@$#*%!@$ cheese go?/I don’t know!”
